Who We AreWe are your local La Leche League Leaders: Janine, Julie and Winema. Each of us nursed our children and attended La Leche League meetings. As our kids grew and we saw the value and importance of La Leche League's role in helping parents and babies, we felt the desire to join in and help. We each underwent the official accreditation process through La Leche League USA and International and now we serve our local area in meetings and through telephone and online support. We are here for you! Our telephone numbers are on the Contact page.
Here is an article about some of your local LLL Leaders from the LLLUSA Blog (note: this article was written before we were joined by Carrie and Julie). http://www.lllusa.org/blog/getting-to-know-your-local-la-leche-league-group-lll-of-blacksburg-and-the-new-river-valley-virginia/ |
What We Dofrom LLLI.org:
"Leaders know the importance of one mother helping another to recognize and understand the needs of her child and to find the best means of fulfilling those needs. Leaders provide information and support so that each mother can make the decisions which are best for her family." To try to fulfill our mission and to keep our local group going strong, we Leaders host regular monthly meetings, keep up with new nursing/human milk feeding information, assist parents on the telephone (texts are ok, too), in person, through our parent-to-parent peer support groups and through email, messenger and social media. We also train new Leaders, promote nursing and gentle parenting in our own lives and keep in touch with our regional, national and international organizations. |
